Winter Moving Tips
The winter season is quickly upon us. As the winds get colder and the snow begins to fall, the more we choose to stay inside and enjoy the warmth of our homes. Most people try to avoid moving homes in the winter because of the difficulties it can involve, but for those who aren’t able to avoid the stresses of moving in the winter months, here are a few winter moving tips to help you get through this difficult time.
1. Create A Path
If you’re moving in the winter time, chances are that there is going to be snow on the ground when you are moving. To make life easier, make a clear path from the house to the truck. You should also make sure the path is salted to avoid slipping on ice while carrying your $500 vase.
2. Prepare The New Home
Heat and lighting is important in the winter months, so it is important to make sure that you have contacted your electricity company to make sure everything is on in the new home when you get there. You don’t want to be living in a new home with no heat or electricity.
3. Plan Your Route
The winter season brings on unpredictable weather. A day of sunshine and cold winds can quickly turn in to a snow storm in the drop of a dime. Be prepared for the weather by planning out the best possible routes to your new home, as well as alternate routes in case one route is disrupted by the snow storm.
4. Dress Appropriately
It is easy to start removing layers of clothing when you are going to be actively moving around all day, but remember it is winter time and you can easily get sick from the brisk weather. Dress warm enough to be outside, and light enough so you’re not sweating buckets when you’re moving things around in the house.
