It is easy to overlook some things when you are preparing for a move. Some things you feel you can probably do at the last minute, but those usually come back to bite you in the butt. 1. Pack Early
People usually have a difficult time preparing for a move and often say, “I don’t know where to start”. Start with the stuff you don’t use too often, get them packed and ready to go since you won’t be using them any time soon. You don’t want to be stuck with a house full of items a couple days before the big moving day, so start packing early and the latter days can be used to pack your frequently used items.
2. Have A Plan For The Kids And Pets.
Hopefully, your kids are old enough to help with the moving process by packing up their toys and games. If not, it is easy for them to get in the way and make the moving process even more difficult than it already is. You should find a babysitter for your children until it is time to make the final drive to the new home.
3. Be Organized
Make sure you have all your items boxed and organized in a way to keep objects from the same room together in the truck. Keep your items from the washroom together, keep your items from the bedroom together, and so on. This will make unloading a lot easier when you finally reach your new destination.
4. Traffic Report
You might want to check the traffic report before you make the trek to your new home. You’re obviously going to be anxious to get to your new home and relax a little bit before you start unpacking. Be sure to check the possible routes to make sure you’re taking the best route possible and not running in to a traffic jam.
5. Don’t Do It Yourself
It might seem like a good idea to do everything yourself because you are nervous the people helping you might not take cautious care of your items the same way you will. Do not take the cheap route, get help from professionals who will take care of your items and have helped people move 100 + times.
