4 Tips For Moving In With Your Spouse
The time comes for all of us when we need to move out of our bachelor apartment or our parents’ house to live with the person you want to be with for the rest of your life. Suddenly, your space and time to do whatever you want, whenever you want is gone; and there is someone else occupying both your time and space on a regular basis. The move can be difficult for first time movers so here are 4 Tips For Moving In With Your Spouse.
1. One House At A Time
Be sure to get started packing early, you don’t want to start packing your items one day before the big move. Also, make sure you’re packed and ready to go the day of the big move so the day will only consist of loading the moving truck with your items. It will be a lot easier to load one house at a time in to the truck, especially if you help each other. Strength in numbers will prevail.
2. You Only Need One
Since your both coming from your own home, you’re obviously going to have two of certain items, such as a blender, toaster, or cutlery. You do not need to bring both in to the new home. Items will quickly be forgotten about and go unused. Save the hassle, and give the worse of the two items away to a friend or family.
Like we stated earlier, it is going to be different to have someone else in your space and occupying your “free” time. That being said, you won’t be able to do all of the same things you once did in your old home; you’re now going to have to compromise with your spouse so you both can continue to do what you enjoy without bothering the other person. Compromising is important to any relationship, and will make living with your spouse a lot easier. Other than moving, we also like to think we give pretty good relationship advice.
4. Share Share Share
You no longer solely own anything. Everything in your home is now owned by you and your spouse. Be prepared to share the TV, washroom time, and anything else you can think of. This is another concept that will make your relationship a lot smoother if you accept it.
